Bill Henry Hewett (1945 - 2018)

Obituary
  • "I am so sorry for your lost I know God will give you all..."

Bill Henry Hewett passed away Friday, September 21, 2018, at Bay Medical in Panama City, Florida. Bill was born January 23, 1945, in Bonifay, Florida, and graduated Vernon High School in 1962. Soon after he joined the Army and fought in Vietnam. Bill was a carpenter by trade; a jokester and storyteller by choice. He dearly loved to play a joke or tell a good story to make folks laugh. Bill always approached you smiling, with a quick wit and a ready hug. He loved and cared deeply for family and friends. And let's be honest, we know he could be irrational at times and maybe a little quick tempered. That was our Bill.

Greeting Bill in glory were his father and mother, Jack and Bunch Hewett, and his brother Franklin Hewett.

Left to mourn his passing are his daughter Michelle Long (Billy) of Cocoa, Florida, and son Lance Hewett of Bonifay, Florida; his grandchildren Julia and Jackson Long and Lyla and Blaze Hewett; his sisters Jahaza Williams of Bonifay and Betty Jo Ely (Jim) of Tallahassee. Bill also will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service has been planned in his remembrance for October 13, 2pm at New Bethany Assembly of God; located in the Hinson's Crossroads community, 2338 Shakey Joe Road, Vernon, Florida. One of Bill's greatest joys was the Friday night sings and the family is asking all his singing friends to come sing him one last song.
