Gregory Lesley Owens went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 26, 2020. Today we honor and celebrate the life of Gregory Lesley Owens. Greg was born on Nov. 4, 1953 in Williston Florida to Leon and Frances Owens. He grew up in Vernon, Florida along with his four brothers and sisters David Owens (Peggy), Mary Steverson, Vera Ann Kirkland (Terry), and Gary Owens (Laurie.)

During his high school career Greg loved fishing on Holmes Creek, playing baseball, and was the FFA State Champion in Log Rolling. After graduation he attended Biblical College in Nashville Tennessee and then returned home and attended Washington-Holmes Technical Center obtaining a degree as a draftsman. Greg traveled all over the United States, for many years as a Contract Engineer for many different telephone companies. He then went to work for the Florida Department of Corrections.

After retirement, Greg and his wife Sammie, settled into a slower pace of life, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. In 2016, they purchased land to be closer to their children and grandchildren and eventually moved to Telogia, Florida. There they found and joined a loving church family at Corinth Baptist Church. Greg wholeheartedly accepted to serve as a deacon of the church, serving wherever he was needed.

Greg and Sammie have a home in Hayesville North Carolina and enjoyed their time together in the mountains. Prior to his passing, Greg was enjoying building a home that he designed for himself and Sammie on the property they had purchased in Liberty County.

Greg will be greatly missed by his wife Sammie Owens, daughters Leslie Arnold (Derrick), Kelli Elliot (David), Mandi Davidson, and his son Mitchell Davidson (Kaitlyn), his eight grandchildren Bailey, Anthony, Malachi, Micah, Chesney, Maleaha, Chase, and Wells, and his loving family and church family.

Celebration of Life was held March, 1, Sunday at 3 p.m. EST at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford. Family received friends at 2 p.m. EST. In lieu of flowers donations are being accepted in honor of Greg at Four Corners Ministries (Att: Allen & Mallory Corbin in memo of check) and A Women's Pregnancy Center in Tallahassee, Florida. All Arrangement are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
