Mathew Roland Kent, son of the late Floyd and Rosa Kent was born on March 24, 2938 in Chipley, FL.

Mathew graduated from Roulhac High School on June 4, 1958 and was a member of Orange Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He served in the US Army and The Florida National Guard (20 years).

Mathew was a Brickmason for 30+ years and worked as a deputy sheriff for the Washington County Police Department. He also enjoyed farming during his pastime.

He was proceeded in death by sisters Catherine Potter, Mable Walker, Mattie Carson, Brothers: Merrit Kent, Floyd Mitchell Kent, Jr., Howard Kent, Freddie Kent, Leo Kent and daughter Stefanie Kent-Pittman.

He leaves to Cherish his precious memories one son, Bernard Kent of Chipley, FL, Four daughter's, Judy Brown (Larry) of Chipley, FL, Gina Smith (Tony-deceased) of Chipley, FL, Saundra Belser of Georgia and Chuki Kent-Jenkins (Rodney) of Alpharetta, GA. Twelve Grandchildren; Sharonda Miller (Tony) of Navarre Beach, FL., Ursulua Ortiz (Jason) of Chipley, FL., Kalonya Bellamy (Alex) of Chipley, FL Larry Brown Jr., of Miami, FL, Jalyn Smith (Dominique) of Chipley, FL, Jory Smith of Chipley, Jalessa Smith of Chipley, Fl., Lucas Kent of Panama City, FL., Madison Kent of Panama City, FL., Ricky Kennedy of Chipley, FL Cameren Jenkins of Alpharetta, GA., and Kyle Jenkins of Alpharetta, GA, and Shannon Phillips.

Services were held at 11a.m. Thursday, April 2, 202 at Orange Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 816 Sunday Road, Chipley, FL. 32428. The Reverend Malcom Nelson Officiated. Arrangements were handled by Battle Memorial Funeral Home.
